This Website will explore the history of the TRAPAUD family. The first evidence of this family is in the 15th century near Bordeaux in France. After the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685, persecution of protestant Christians forced branches of the family out of France to England, Ireland and Denmark.

Much of the information displayed on this website has been drawn from research carried out and documented by Ida de Layarde in her book "Family of Trapaud", written in 1899. Recently, the book has been edited and re-published by Jack Smith (ISBN 0-9750807-3-3).

Please revisit this site frequently as information will be added on a regular basis. If you would like to know more about the family and their history you can contact us at the e-mail address below. We would be particularly interested to hear from you if you have further historical evidence or you are related to the TRAPAUD family.
